On May 10, 2016, the President of the Republic signed an amendment to Act No. 549/1991 Coll., on court fees. The amendment introduces a new exemption from the Commercial Register registration fee for limited liability companies. To qualify for the exemption, the company’s registration must be performed by a notary public; the registration must be based on a notarial deed which establishes the limited liability company and includes only the essentials required by law and nothing further; and the contribution must be paid solely in cash.

In general, this exemption, thus, will not apply to every registration in the Commercial Register. In addition, in cases where registration in the Commercial Register is handled by a court instead of a notary public, or where the Articles of Association stipulate more detailed requirements beyond the framework of the law, the limited liability company will remain liable to pay the court fee.
