On March 9, 2016, the Chamber of Deputies approved the bill for the new Public Procurement Act in its third reading. This bill must now be endorsed by the Senate and signed by the President. The Act is likely to take effect in July 2016 at the earliest though the decisive date for EU law implementation is April 16 2016 (i.e. by this deadline, the EU law should be implemented through the new statute). After this date, the Czech Republic will be threatened with the stoppage of European grant payments until the new Public Procurement Act takes effect.
